    Private Lesson Teacher List        Revised October 2017


    There is no substitute for the one-to-one attention available to students in private lessons. The Twin Cities has many fine teachers, some of whom are listed below. The time and place for lessons is arranged by calling the teacher. Lessons can be thirty minutes long, but more advanced students often take forty-five minute or hour lessons. Fees for lessons average $15-30 per half-hour lesson. The individual teacher or studio determines exact fees. Most teachers will expect monthly or quarterly payments, and some do not offer to make up lessons missed because of scheduling issues.

    Selecting a specific private teacher can be a personal choice, with personality and teaching styles having an impact on progress. Take the time to visit with a prospective teacher or have a trial lesson or two before committing. Do not hesitate to ask questions. It is important that both parent and student feel comfortable with the teacher. Please note that the District does not sponsor or endorse any of the teachers on this list.
