• TRIO Upward Bound is a college and career readiness program that has been serving students since 1964. We are based out of Anoka Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids and currently serve 7 high schools throughout the Anoka Hennepin, Spring Lake Park, and Osseo School districts. Upward Bound is a free program provided by a federal grant.

    Here are a few things we offer:

    • Field trips that include college tours, cultural event trips, picnics, etc.
    • After school tutoring and one-on-one meeting/mentorship with an advisor.
    • Activities, and engaging lessons surrounding the topics on how to choose a
      college, how to complete your FAFSA, assistance applying to scholarships,
      PSEO support, etc.
    • ACT waivers for high school juniors taking or re-taking the ACT test.
    • An optional 6-week summer program ending with a multicultural fashion show
      and an overnight trip (the location changes every year!).

    Who are we looking for?

    • Grades 9-12
    • Students looking for a community to be part of
    • Parents do not have a 4-year college degree
    • Utilize free or reduced lunch
    • Motivated to succeed

    We do not have academic requirements to join. However, a student needs to see the value of education, wherever they might be on their academic journey.
