Anoka-Hennepin retired employees overview
Retirees - are you looking for a way to keep in contact with current retirees and those who have retired before you?
The Anoka-Hennepin Retired Staff Association (AHRSA), formerly known as the Anoka Area Retired Educators Association, was formed in 1977 by Superintendent Erling Johnson, to provide all retired district employees (paras, nurses, secretaries, teachers, administrators, child nutrition staff, custodians, etc.) a time and place to connect and be kept apprised of issues of interest and importance in retirement as well as to enjoy a variety of special programs.
AHRSA recognizes that retired district staff are a valuable community resource and encourages participation in a variety of volunteer opportunities.
AHRSA is a local affiliate of the state association, Retired Educators Association of Minnesota (REAM). REAM is an active member of the Coalition for Public Information and keeps members informed on the TRA and PERA pension funds, health care, legislation matters, and other concerns.
Anyone who has served in Anoka-Hennepin Schools in any way and who will receive pensions from either TRA or PERA is welcome to AHRSA.Yearly membership dues are $10. Spouses and friends are always welcome at the luncheons. Just be sure to make a reservation for them.

Upcoming meetings
We invite all retired staff to join us for AHRSA luncheons. This is a great opportunity to connect with friends and enjoy interesting programs.
AHRSA luncheon meetings are held on the third Tuesday in September, October, April, and May at the Greenhaven Golf and Banquet Center, 2800 Greenhaven Road, Anoka.
All meetings include a served lunch ($16 fee, which includes tax and tip and is paid at the door), a program (including speakers, entertainment, and music), a short business meeting, and time to visit with friends and colleagues. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. The program begins at 1:00 p.m. Spouses and friends are always welcome at the luncheons - just be sure to make a reservation for them.
Past members will either be called or receive an email about two weeks before the scheduled meeting to make a reservation. Note: If you make a reservation but do not show up, you will still need to pay for your meal, as we reserve with a guaranteed count.
If you are not contacted by phone or email, or if you have questions or need additional information, contact President Lynn Montgomery at 612-670-8281.
As an organization, we want to have a presence in the community. Therefore, at each meeting, we will provide an opportunity to make a donation to a community cause.2023-24 Meeting Schedule

Community involvement
AHRSA members come together for more than just lunch. AHRSA works to make a difference in the community by supporting various causes and organizations, such as the Anoka County Christmas Committee and Anoka County Library Project Bookshelf.
In past years, AHRSA has also collected food items, which were then donated to the Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) Emergency Food Shelf.
Consider volunteering to help AHRSA in the following ways:
President-elect.
Secretary.
Historian.
Sunshine Chair.Talk to Lynn Montgomery at 612-670-8281 or any board member to inquire about any of the above opportunities. AHRSA would love to have more people take on active roles in the organization!
