    Dad baked 5 cupcakes. The dog ate 3. How many more cupcakes are left?  Dad needs 10 cupcakes for a party. How many more will he need to bake to have 10 cupcakes?

    This problem can be a challenge.  Young thinkers will solve a problem by working it out in the order the information is given.  Counters or drawing pictures will be important tools for most children this age.  You might want to have a ten frame available.  See Week 2.
