• Focused, ongoing professional development is a key component of continuous improvement in teaching and learning. In Anoka-Hennepin, all teachers are offered three types of professional development:
Formal professional development sessions are followed by coaching cycles with the building instructional coach. Coaching cycles provide an opportunity for teachers to reflect with the coach on new learning and application to their practice. Instructional coaches are available to support teachers as they work through challenges they may encounter when implementing specialization.

Professional learning communities (PLCs) support continuous improvement by providing opportunities for teachers to achieve district, school and grade level goals through the review of student learning and teacher practice. Our elementary PLCs are structured around grade level teams, academic discipline and like positions such as special education. All Things PLC, All in One Place is a collaborative, objective resource for our teachers who are committed to enhancing student achievement.

Further information can be found in the curriculum section of the elementary instructional handbook.
