If you sit in on a class taught by Mr. Holmgren you will immediately notice a sense of comfort, communication and enjoyment amongst the students and teacher.  This is exactly the goal Mr. Holmgren has for each one of his classes.  While realizing that American History may not be the favorite subject for a majority of his students, he strives to create an atmosphere in his classroom where every single student can at least enjoy spending time there.  The thought process behind this is based on the idea that if each student can at least be curious about what is going to happen in Mr. Holmgren's class each day and walk through the door with an open mind, it will then be much easier to motivate students and fill those open minds with something before they leave that day.

 

Mr. Holmgren is the father of a beautiful 6 year old daughter, a frequent viewer of most sporting events, dedicated reader of that archaic thing we call a daily newspaper and a semi-avid reader of non-fiction books.  In his spare time, Mr. Holmgren enjoys spending time with his large and extensive family and traveling to warm places where doing nothing is completely acceptable.  Mr. Holmgren also coaches baseball at Elk River High School where he has resided for the past 12 years.  He has been the Head Baseball Coach at Elk River since the spring of 2012 and has also coached basketball for many years at a wide range of levels, from 9th grade to the NCAA DII level.
