The district offers two adapted athletic leagues — a Physically Impaired (PI) team and a Cognitively Impaired (CI) team — that align with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 7- 12 are eligible to participate. There are four different sports available throughout the school year, depending on the season:
Winter: Floor hockey
All sports are available in both the CI and PI leagues. Transportation is also available.
Students with cognitive impairments, which includes full scale IQ of 70 or less on most recent evaluation, and students receiving DCD services, would be eligible to participate in the CI league. For more information, please contact:
Students with cardio/respiratory impairments that limit the intensity and duration of physical activity, and students with a physical impairment, such as: physical impairment that affects motor or gait patterns, neuromuscular, postural/skeletal, traumatic brain injury, growth, or requires the use of prosthesis or wheelchair, are eligible to play. A doctor’s signature is required on page four of the MSHSL physical exam form addendum. For more information, please contact:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) bowling: Students will need to have documented evidence of ASD and need to be receiving services from the district. Students must be able to participate in the activity without having physical prompts by an adult, coach or other athlete. For more information, please contact:
