Welcome to Mrs. Olsen's LAUNCH Classroom

My name is Nichole Olsen. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from Saint Mary's University of MN in Winona. I majored in Social Science and Psychology with a Criminal Justice Minor. I had intentions of going back to Law School. However, I stayed home with my son for the first seven years of his life. Through my son being in the Anoka Hennepin School District I then found my true passion serving students with Autism and other unique behavioral challenges in the LAUNCH program. I decided to get my Masters in Special Education with my Autism teaching license.

This is my 7th year in the Anoka Hennepin School District and my 5th year as a teacher in the LAUNCH program. LAUNCH stands for Learners with Autism and Unique Challenges. LAUNCH is a self-contained classroom that specializes in customizing your student’s education so that they can be as integrated as possible with their mainstream peers. Typically, students who are served by this model have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and need significant learning and social supports as a result of their disability. 

I am married to my college sweetheart. We have been married for 14 years and we have one son who is 13 years old. We have three dogs, a yellow lab named Logan and a boxer named Fern, and a Saint Bernard named Willow. We also have a black and white cat named Bunky.

 We LOVE to golf as a family and cheer for the Chicago Bears! Go Bears!!!
