Profe Beckman's classroom website:
Hello! My name is Val Beckman. This will be my 12th year of teaching Spanish, but I am new to Jackson Middle School and the Anoka-Hennepin School District. I grew up in Woodbury and graduate from Woodbury High School in 2001. In high school, I took Spanish levels 1-5. I graduated from Bethel University in 2005 with a degree in Spanish Education, K-12 and completed my Masters program at Bethel in 2008. I have taught at Henry Sibley High School, Simley High School, Lakeville North High School, St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, and Southwest Junior High in Forest Lake.
During my time at Bethel, I studied abroad in Guatemala for a semester. I have also been to Mexico multiple times, stayed with my cousins who live in Uruguay for a month, and travelled with students to Puerto Rico. I love to travel and hope to make it to many more Spanish speaking countries in the future.
I love to spend time with my family. I have infant identical twin girls, a large Bernese Mountain dog, three cats, and a rabbit. I love to spend time outside in nature, read, scrapbook, and spend time at the cabin on the lake in the summer and snowmobile in the winter.
Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch their growth in language learning! Together we can help your child achieve success!
Please take a look at my website for any information about our class. Your student can find out what we did in class when they were absent, print handouts and homework, view videos that we watch in class, practice the content from each chapter using fun online interactive games, and have access to multiple helpful links.
