As the largest school district in the state, we serve approximately 8,000 employees who provide excellent and diverse educational experiences for our 40,000+ students. We also provide point-of-entry services to more than 1,100 prospective employees each year, who are happy to join our great school community.
Employee Services exists to recruit, select, and retain employees with the highest qualifications, diverse backgrounds and experiences, and a passion for teaching and learning. We are accountable to students, parents, and the state and federal governing entities to provide quality educational services through the effectiveness of all our staff.

Leave of absence
An employee who is absent from work for a period of ten (10) or more days for the same reason, is required to request approval for the leave of absence.
Typical reasons to request a leave of absence
- Employee: A serious health condition of the employee as defined as an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves hospitalization, inpatient care, or continuing treatment by a health care provider, as defined by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) with physician certification.
- Employee Dependents: A serious health condition for a spouse, son or daughter, or parent, as defined as an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves inpatient care or continuing treatment by a health care provider, as defined by FMLA with physician certification.
- Birth or Adoption of child(ren): A period of incapacity related to pregnancy, prenatal care, the birth of a child, or placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
- Absence due to military service or because of a qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that your spouse or child is on active duty.
- Applicable leaves granted under MN Statutes. (TRA Extended Leave)
- Sabbaticals for K-12 Teachers
- Other grantable leaves as cited in your negotiated bargaining unit master agreement.

Continuing Education (CEUs) and Relicensure

PELSB – (Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board)
PELSB will: (1) develop the teacher’s code of ethics; (2) adopt rules for public school teacher licenses and teacher preparation programs; (3) approve teacher preparation programs; (4) issue or deny teacher license applications; (5) suspend or revoke licenses based on qualifying grounds; and, (6) verify district and charter school license compliance.

Professional development and CEU opportunities from Community Education
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers to meet mandatory state license renewal requirements. Classes will be held virtually using Google Meet. Participants will receive a link two to three days prior to the class start date. Pre-registration is required.
Participants must be visible to the presenter during the session, both for feedback but also to ensure attendance. Attendance will be taken within a Google Form, and the resulting spreadsheet sent to Lisa Norling, Employee Services Dept at the ESC. The Google Form will request the participant's name, employee number, and a question regarding how this session was/will be impactful to the work of the attendee.
Registration closes at noon on the day class is scheduled or until it fills. Classes will be cancelled if the minimum registration of 10 participants is not met. Register online at www.discovercommunityed.com or call the Adult Learning office at 763-506-5766 (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education also offers additional CEU opportunities for teachers through our online partner, Ed2Go.
- Classes are available in the areas of classroom computing, languages, mathematics, reading, writing, science, and additional tools for teachers.
- New six-week sessions begin each month.
- Upon completing a course with a passing score, you will receive an Award of Completion that can be printed for approval.
- Please note that it is the responsibility of each licensee to verify acceptance of these courses and to apply for clock hours with the Anoka-Hennepin Continuing Education Committee.

Training and Learning Management System
Learning Management System: The district allows staff to view and complete all required online training courses, view and register for relevant professional development courses and track all of your professional development.
Please log into the Learning Management System at least monthly to see if there have been any updates to your required training(s).
Note: If you are a new staff member of the district, it may take up to three weeks before your information is uploaded to the Learning Management System.

Staff harassment, violence, or discrimination report form
The Anoka-Hennepin School District prohibits harassment, violence, discrimination and bullying in all forms, including on the basis of a person's actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex/gender (including harassment based on gender identity and expression), marital status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, age, family care leave status or veteran status.
If you or someone you know has experienced harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying at school or at any school-related event for any reason, you may make a report to have the incident(s) investigated by the district. Any student, parent/guardian, or district employee may complete this form and return it to any administrator, counselor, or student services advocate.
Alternatively, you may make a verbal or other written report to an administrator, counselor, or student services advocate. Any district employee who receives a completed report form or any other written or verbal report will immediately notify the complaint to the school principal or title IX/equity coordinator of the report, who will designate the person to investigate and resolve the report pursuant to the district's policies and federal and state laws.
The district will not disclose the identity of any individual who makes a report, except to the district personnel designated to investigate the report or as required by law. Retaliation against any individual who makes a report or who participates or assists in an investigation of harassment, violence, discrimination, or bullying is strictly prohibited.
