Former teacher and coach, Carl Leadens, has passed away

Carl Leadens, an Anoka-Hennepin teacher and coach for three decades, has passed away. He was 89 years old.

Funeral services will take place at St. Stephen's Church in Anoka (date pending), with private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Thurston-Lindberg-DeShaw Funeral Home.

Carl spent 33 years in the district. Much of that time was at Fred Moore where he taught both physical education and health. He coached football and basketball for Anoka-Hennepin, as well as baseball in the American Legion Post 102 program, and he was a longtime member of the Minn. State High School Coaches Association. 

He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of the American Legion. After serving in the Army, Carl earned two degrees from St. Cloud State University and then lived and raised his family in Anoka with his wife, Virginia.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his wife, children Michael (Peg) Leadens, Marty (Robin) Leadens, Mark (Penny) Leadens and Jolene (Mike) Rademacher, grandchildren Kelsey, Morgan, Megan, Ryan, Anna, Alexandra, Briggs, Damon and Danika, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
