Daily Announcements, Thursday, October 3, Day 1

Wanna read great books and talk about them with your friends? Consider joining the Anoka-Hennepin Middle Schools Battle of the Books! Sign-ups are due by Friday, so get the information from your ELA teacher, and sign up with the link posted in their Google Classroom. Don't have a team, but still want to join? We can put you on a team of three so you're ready for the competition in February. All meetings happen during school hours, but you must sign up by Friday, October 4th! Then check out the BOB books from the library and get reading!

Attention all 6th-grade girls!  If you're interested in playing volleyball at JMS, now’s your chance!  This is a modified league designed to introduce you to the game of volleyball, focusing on skill development while having fun. Whether you're new to the game or have played before, you’ll have the opportunity to improve your skills. Based on your skill level, you will be placed on either the A team or the B team, so there’s a spot for everyone!  Teams will practice after school and compete against other middle schools in the Anoka-Hennepin district. Stop by the Community Ed office for more information or register online today!

Attention big brained humans!  Knowledge Bowl season is upon us and we want you.  This FREE after school group that meets on Wednesdays is where you get to show off your smarts and work in teams to compete against other smart kids from schools around the Twin Cities.  There will be an Advisory meeting THIS FRIDAY to get more information and meet your coaches.  Get a pass from your super awesome ELA teacher and meet us in R940 Friday during Advisory.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! Sonia Sotomayor, who grew up in the Bronx, was sworn in as the first Hispanic Supreme Court judge in 2009. She is in the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
