Welcome to our Classroom Website
I have been a teacher at Coon Rapids High School since 1980, after graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College and teaching one semester at Morris Bye Elementary. At Gustavus, I earned a teaching license in Elementary education and in special education (Intellectual disabilities). In the late 1980's, I received a Master's degree from the University of St. Thomas in Curriculum and Instruction. I took a sabbatical leave three years ago for one school year, and earned a license in Reading K-12, and my special education license in Learning Disabilities. While at Coon Rapids High School, I have had a wide variety of teaching jobs. I have taught Essential (special education) classes in most subject areas, co-taught in a number of high school classes in all subjects, and have been the lead teacher in special education. Since returning from my sabbatical leave, I have been co-teaching in all grade levels of English. Even after a number of years working with adolescents, I continue to enjoy their energy and watching them progress from ninth graders to young adults ready to take on the world.
I am married to my husband, Bruce, and have 3 adult children, one grand-daughter, one daughter-in-law, and one son-in-law. Bruce is an audio and acoustic engineer, and has his own business. Our daughter is a probation officer with Hennepin County and our sons both have careers in the computer networking and programming industry. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, listening to audiobooks, sewing, and getting together with family and friends.
Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch their growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
