As the district reviews and adopts new materials in courses, it involves students, parents, and the community as part of a comprehensive 41-step process. Current math, language arts, science, social studies, and health materials were all adopted after community engagement and public review of the materials, and future purchases will also be reviewed publicly before official adoption.  

It is the primary mission of the Anoka-Hennepin School District to prepare every student for success beyond high school. The district is committed to providing instruction based on the Minnesota State Standards and assessing our students based on their mastery of those materials and their growth toward achievement.

Community Curriculum Advisory Council
The Community Curriculum Advisory Council (CCAC) works to review PreK-12 curriculum, assessment, and instructional programming through a community lens; review proposed changes to curriculum, assessment, and instructional programming including new resources, courses, programs, assessments, etc.; and provide input and feedback to the School Board on proposed curriculum changes.

The committee is currently composed of parents/guardians of elementary, middle and high school students representing each high school attendance area in the district. Beginning in January 2022, this committee will open up five positions for community members. These new voluntary positions are intended to be specifically for community members without current students enrolled in any Anoka-Hennepin school. Read more and watch the video from North Metro TV. Complete an application to be considered for membership by Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 at 4 p.m.

Elementary Science Review Committee
Anoka-Hennepin is seeking community members to join the district’s Elementary Science Review Committee.

The elementary science review committee will study research and best practices in science education, and analyze Anoka-Hennepin elementary student achievement results relative to the Minnesota State Standards. In addition, committee members will examine the present science program and gather stakeholder feedback with a goal of providing results and recommendations to the School Board, informing next steps for a science resource adoption. 

The committee will be composed of district personnel, teachers, school board members and parents/guardians of elementary students representing each attendance area in the district. Complete an application to be considered for the Elementary Science Review Committee by Friday, Dec. 10, 2021.

Meetings are scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Educational Service Center (ESC), located at 2727 N. Ferry St. in Anoka. Meetings will be held Jan. 12, Feb. 9, Mar. 8 and Apr. 12.
