Bell time changes planned for secondary schools, special education sites in 2025-26
(03/06/2025) Bell times for the five traditional high schools in the Anoka-Hennepin School District and for eight other secondary sites are shifting starting in the 2025-26 school year. The reason for the change is to prioritize staffing ratios and classroom support as part of a $26 million reduction and reallocation plan approved by the School Board at its November 25, 2024 meeting.
High schools that will operate under the 7:30 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. bell schedule for 2025-26 include:
-
Andover High School
-
Anoka High School
-
Blaine High School
-
Champlin Park High School
-
Coon Rapids High School
NOTE: This is a 10 minute adjustment from the current 7:40 a.m. start time.
Additional secondary sites that will also adjust times earlier by 10 minutes for 2025-26 include:
-
Sandburg Regional High School 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
-
Secondary Technical Education Program (STEP) 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
-

The new bell time schedules allow district transportation services to eliminate bus routes for an annual operational savings of at least $350,000. The new high school bell time schedule is consistent with other schools in the north metro, including neighboring Maple Grove, Osseo, Park Center, St. Francis, Elk River, Rogers and Zimmerman high schools.
The District will share this information in the March 5, 2025 issue of the FOCUS e-newsletter which is distributed to all families and will also follow up with additional notices as part of the back-to-school communication plan in the fall.
