2008-09 State Career Development Conference

On March 9, 10, and 11 at the DECA State Career Development Conference in Minneapolis, Coon Rapids DECA had a great showing.  At the conference Cooper Sartell was named Coon Rapids High School Outstanding DECA member of the year, by Minnesota DECA.  Some of the other highlights of the state conference were 7th place finishes for Angela Wittrock, Lisa Jaroscak and Kiran Devan; a 6th place finish for Angela Wittrock, a 5th place finish for the team of Amonte Pollard, Cooper Sartell, and Amanda Mattoon, and a 2nd place individual finish for Cooper Sartell.  Overall, Coon Rapids DECA had 10 state finalists in their individual or team events.

 

In addition to all the top finishes, Cooper Sartell and Angela Wittrock qualified for the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia where they will be competing against the best marketing students in the world in an extremely competitive international field.   
2008 International Career Development Conference Atlanta, Georgia

Coon Rapids High School sent two members of our DECA organization to Atlanta, Georgia to participate in the four-day International Career Development Conference competition.  This year’s international conference had over 14,000 DECA members from around the world in attendance.  Coon Rapids DECA did well in this extremely competitive international field.   The highlight of the conference was Angela Wittrock’s top 10 finish in the Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan comprehensive exam.  Mr. Bodenburg would like to thank all the DECA members for their efforts at the conference, and congratulate everyone for a wonderful year of competition.
