Accuplacer is used to place students in courses at MnSCU 2-year colleges.  Most MnSCU colleges require you to take the Accuplacer prior to registering for classes.  The Accuplacer does not determine admission to the college--it is used to determine appropriate course placement to promote student success.
Accuplacer tests are given frequently at 2-year MnSCU schools.  If you have been accepted to a MnSCU 2-year college and need to take the test, contact the Testing Center at your college to schedule a date or check the college's website for dates.  Your first test is free, the second test has a fee.  You can only take the test twice.
If your 2-year college is not in the metro area, you can request a test voucher from your college and then schedule the test at ARCC or ATC.  You must have a voucher before signing up for the test.
At many 2-year colleges, your MCA or ACT scores could be used in place of the Accuplacer test.  Each college sets their own minimum score requirements for the tests.  If you have taken the MCA or ACT, be sure to check with your college to see if your scores can be used.

A Closer Look at ACCUPLACER Tests
The test is generally composed of Reading, Writing, and Math segments.

ACCUPLACER tests use a multiple-choice format (except for WritePlacer®, the written essay assessment). There’s no time limit on the tests, so you can focus on doing your best to demonstrate your skills.

ACCUPLACER uses the latest computer-adaptive technology. Questions are presented based on your individual skill level. Your response to each question drives the difficulty level of the next question. It’s important to give each question as much thought as you can before selecting your answer.
