This year’s keynote speaker is Lieutenant George Allen Okvist III, US Navy. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 2003 upon completion of flight training at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida and Vance Air Force Base (AFB) Enid, Oklahoma. His duty assignments included tours with the "Shadows" of Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Four (VQ-4) and the "Roughnecks" of VQ-7, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma as Instructor Pilot and Pilot Evaluator deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and as the Ratings Assignment Officer with the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Millington, Tennessee.
We are excited to have Lieutenant Okvist as our speaker this year. Principal Mike Farley, a Navy veteran, will also address students and the wider community. Student Council President Ava LeBlanc and National Honors Society President Jessica Jensen will make various presentations, informing attendees about the flag, recognizing veterans and explaining the wreath-laying ceremony. Band, choir, and orchestra ensembles will perform multiple numbers. TAPS will be played by students Christopher Surratt (12) & Sofia Tudor (10). The 45 minute assembly begins at 7:40 am, and all are welcome.
